‘Awkward.’ Recap: Goin’ to the Chapel

Last week on ‘Awkward.’ Jenna had decided to hold onto her not-so-v-card, opting to wait with Jake, to keep things special. She’s not quite ready to drop the L-bomb, but she’s perfectly happy with her anti-Matty, and we’re sort of happy for her. But as is true in life, nothing’s ever easy, and their love story is due for a few bumps in the road this week. Let’s see what happened, shall we?

Allie’s still around
And she seems to really be serious about walking down the aisle with Sadie’s uncle! And She’s trying on dresses, which everyone expects to have cutouts and glitter. But they are surprised when she comes out in an elegant gown, and has paid for all the bridesmaid’s dresses. Even one for Jenna! But it’s hideous. And pink. And poofy..
Tonight, tonight
.Jenna’s mom’s staying at the bridal suite, and so Jenna’s planning to do the deed with Jake in her down time. But when things go awry with the wedding planning, she drops out, and bumps up their bumpin’ date.

“My Ben?”
.A mystery man is on his way, an old flame of Jenna’s mom. And since dear old dad RSVP’ed with regrets. And Jenna can’t get over the idea of a previous man in her mom’s life. Apparently, he’s the guy that mom should have married. Ooof. So she’s going through old photos to discover Mr. Should Have Been, who turns out to be Mr. Oohh La La.

Down with the lovey-dovey
.Sadie is smitten with Ricky Schwartz after their proclamation of “like,” and it’s pretty sickening to hear, especially for Tamara, who is now the default wedding assistant.

Flower b*tch is back on
.Ben’s a babe, and so Jenna’s back in the wedding. It turns out that Ben just so happens to be her mom’s Matty. The one that got away. Or whatever. And Jenna calls dad in for reinforcements, but he doesn’t show. Will Ben move in on mom?

Gal Pal Val!
.Crazy as she is, Val really comes through in a pinch. When the pregnant bridesmaid has to bail to give birth, she steps in as backup, oohing and ahhing over her roomy maternity frock. “It’s so blousy!” Oh, Val. Never change. And Jenna needs a favor. She wants Val to keep an eye on Ben, and GPV finally relents after Jenna promises her a cat. “Feral. I like to rescue.”

Douche alert?
.Jenna overhears Ben confessing that Lacey (Mrs. Hamilton) looks great, and that he may finally be able to make up for lost time. Ruh Roh, J-town. Better get a game plan going, and soon.

First comes love; then comes marriage
When Allie reveals that her new groom is the first guy she’s ever loved and had love her back, Lacey realizes that maybe Ben is for the best. And when Jenna gives GPV the nod to swoop in and steal Ben, she says she can’t, because he’s too pretty. Jenna confronts Ben, and he tells her not to take love and life for granted, and she’s ready to escalate their bed date ASAP..
Slinging mud at Sadie
.Jake tells Sadie to stop her stupidity, but it backfires. Because Jake was the last to know that Jenna and Matty were a semi-item, and she spills the beans. Meanwhile, Jenna’s leaving him a voicemail (which is weird, because she can see him…) and she reciprocates on the L-word, not realizing her man is ready to bolt.

And then the words TO BE CONTINUED flash across the screen, dashing our hopes and dreams in an instant. Will Jake ditch Jenna now that he’s in the know? Will Matty nix Courtney in search of Jenna? And what about Sadie and Ricky? Are they the new “it-couple” on ‘Awkward.’? So many burning questions!

It’s been 25 years since Michael Jackson’s iconic album Bad was released. There is a threesome happening between Kevin Hart, Kanye West, and Kim Kardashian. Can you believe it’s been 25 years since Michael Jackson’s legendary album Bad was released. In honor, MJ’s Estate will be releasing a special 25th Anniversary edition of the album that will include three CDs of previously re-mastered versions of the hits and unreleased recordings, two collector’s booklets, and a DVD of his record breaking and sold out ‘BAD’ world tour from July 16th, 1988 at the Wembley Stadium show in London. Beyonce And Jay-Z Top Forbes’ ‘World’s Highest-Paid Celebrity Couples’ List

As if you weren’t already in awe of Beyonce and Jay-Z’s magical life together, Forbes has confirmed that the couple is one of the highest paid pairs in the world. The magazine has released a list titled “World’s Highest-Paid Celebrity Couples” and as you can imagine there are some serious power duos included.

Beyonce and Jay-Z top the list with a combined income of $78 million. Better still: Beyonce is the higher earner, bringing in $40 million to Jay-Z’s $38 million. This is notably big since the couple took a lot of last year off surrounding the birth of their daughter Blue Ivy. This means Beyonce and Jay-Z make money just for being Beyonce and Jay-Z.

Next on the list are model Gisele Bundchen and New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who pulled in $72 million combined. We hope you feel good about yourselves, Bundchen and Brady for being incredibly attractive and incredibly rich. Coming in third are Victoria and David Beckham, who earned a measly $54 million (imagine how much they could have raked in if the latter had been paid for driving that boat during the Olympics Opening Ceremony).

In case you were thinking, “But what about Angelina and Brad and all their kids?” don’t worry. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie came in fourth, earning $45 million, while Will and Jada Pinkett Smith landed fifth with $40 million.

What can we learn from all this? Ugly people (and ugly couples) can’t get rich in the entertainment biz. At least, not $50 million rich. Congrats to these celebrity couple. We’ll take any and all donations, in cash, at our office.

Miley Cyrus Explains Early Engagement To Liam Hemsworth

Miley Cyrus is on the cover of the new issue of Marie Claire and in the magazine the singer/actress discusses her recent engagement to The Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth. And if you were thinking that 19 is too young to get engaged, well, Cyrus has a (mostly) valid response.

Cyrus told the magazine, “Me and Liam both have been together a really long time, and I just know that this is what I want… for my life. Life is too short to not spend every moment making the person who makes you the happiest happy in return.” So, basically, all the critics should shut up about whether Cyrus and Hemsworth are too young to get engaged. Although this doesn’t necessarily mean that wedding bells will be ringing any time soon. The singer noted, “I don’t really care about the wedding or the piece of paper as much as I do the promise we’ve made to each other. And we want to have a long engagement.”

Cyrus also discussed her engagement ring, a 3.5 carat cushion-cut antique diamond by Neil Lane. She said, “We’d been kind of talking about [getting engaged], and I saw something like it online at one point and thought it was really pretty. But I usually wear rose gold. I just love that it’s old and has a story. And I’m happy, because it doesn’t look like anything else I wear.”

The weirdest part of the article is where Cyrus explains that she and Hemsworth have moved into her parents old house in the San Fernando Valley in California. Her parents have moved two houses down. Cyrus said, “It’s really weird [sleeping] in my parents’ room. Now it’s my room, and Liam is at my dad’s sink, and I’m at my mom’s. It’s really strange, but also really cool. The first time I ever met or hung out with Liam was here. When he first moved to America, he didn’t have any family here, so our family became his. This is where all our memories are being made.”

So there you go. Celebrities, they’re just like us! Living in their parents’ bedrooms! Seriously though, congrats to Cyrus on getting engaged at 19 while women around the world scramble to update their online dating profiles.

Lady Gaga Confirms New Album Title ‘ARTPOP’

Last week Lady Gaga revealed her new tattoo, prompting fans to wonder whether the block text on her arm reading “ARTPOP” was in fact the singer’s new album title. As it turns out, it is.

The singer, who previously said she would reveal the disc’s moniker come September, confirmed over the weekend that her next album will be called ARTPOP. Gaga tweeted, “Make sure when writing about my new album/project ARTPOP that you CAPITALIZE the title it’s all in the details.” So there you go. It’s a good title, in our opinion. It’s vague enough that fans can interpret it as they like and it’s concrete enough that it certainly means something to Gaga, who apparently has had the title picked out since last year.

Gaga told MTV News back in December, “I’ve started writing it and I have the name for it, and all the concepts are beginning to flourish and take place. I’m excited to put it out, but it’s not done yet. So I’ll put it out when it’s done.”

Not a huge amount is known about the upcoming disc, although the singer has been teasing it during her current Born This Way Ball tour. At one stop she told the crowd, “Let’s just say I feel, I feel that when I wrote Born This Way, I demonstrated a sense of maturity. And I feel that on the next album, there’s a lack of maturity — it’s a tremendous lack of maturity or sense of responsibility.” We like the sound of that.

Beyonce To Direct Documentary About Herself

If there’s any director who can truly capture what it means to be Beyonce, it’s Beyonce herself. According to the LA Times, the pop singer is set to direct a nonfiction film about her life and career.

Beyonce and her representatives at agency ICM have reportedly been shopping the film to several Hollywood studios. The Times reports that “the movie is as a mix of music and personal study, blending concert footage with confessional interview. Knowles not only stars in the project but is directing it, and will also serve as a producer. About 20 minutes of footage has been shown to distributors.”

This seems to suggest that the film is finished, but we’d guess that any studio that picked the film up would have some changes to make. It certainly makes sense that Beyonce would be behind such a project. The film would follow in the recent slate of pop star-focused films, such as those from Justin Bieber and Katy Perry. Although Perry’s failed to perform at the box office, we’d imagine that there’s an audience for Beyonce’s film, especially if she’s the one behind it. And as much as we want to see some home video footage of Blue Ivy Carter, we really want the inside gossip on Destiny’s Child.

Beyonce and her camp have not yet commented on the reports about this movie, but we can’t wait for the VMAs when Beyonce rubs her hand across a spool of film and looks meaningfully at the cameras in confirmation.

Watch: Justin Bieber Gets Bloodied Up In ‘As Long As You Love Me’ Video

In the new clip for Justin Bieber’s “As Long As You Love Me” the teen pop star gets beat up, which is just what you’ve always wanted to see, right? The video, which premiered this morning, brings us a bloodied and slightly more mature version of the singer.

The movie-like video kicks off with Kill Bill actor Michael Madsen telling Bieber that his daughter needs to be “with a man not a boy, and that’s what you are.” Bieber says he loves her and Madsen says well, cool, but he doesn’t want anyone to leave his daughter and break her heart. Now get out of here, Bieber, Madsen says and take your slick hair-do with you (he doesn’t really say that last part). And the poor pop star is so sad that he, of course, starts singing. The rest of the tale is gritty and involves some dancing and a lot of punches thrown. Oh, and Big Sean shows up. Watch below:

So the dance parts in the middle – is this the choreography Usher rejected for his last video and handed over to Bieber to use? Seriously, though, this is clearly a more grown-up clip for the singer. We like the edgier visuals and more adult narrative. It actually makes Bieber look like a real pop star instead of a teen boy. Sure it’s pretty dramatic and the story of boy meets girl, girl’s dad hates boy is pretty played out, but it feels like a solid step up for Bieber. We’d love to say that he’s become the man Michael Madsen always wanted him to be, but there’s still a ways to go.
