Snoop Dogg Banned From Norway For Two Years, Preps Live Webcast

Snoop Dogg has been officially banned from Norway for two years following a recent marijuana bust in the country. The rapper was caught with eight grams of marijuana at an airport earlier this summer while on tour and will now need to avoid Norway for the next few years.

U.K. paper Daily Mail reports that the rapper has no immediate plans to appeal the country’s decision and Snoop’s legal representative in Norway, Holger Hagesaeter, said the rapper “can live with the decision.” When Snoop was stopped at the Kjevic Airport in Kristiansand, Norway he was found not only with eight grams of pot but with more cash than is legally allowed. He was subsequently fined 52,000 kroner ($8,600) for the violations. It seems to us like this decision affects the rapper’s fans more than it affects the rapper himself, since there are still many other countries where he can tour while he waits out his two-year ban.

In other Snoop news, the rapper will participate in a live webcast this afternoon to discuss his new name, Snoop Lion, and upcoming reggae album. The chat takes place at 5:15 p.m. EST/2:15 p.m. PST and will be streamed here. According to the press release the rapper will be joined by Suroosh Alvi, co-founder Vice Media, Ted Chung of Stampede Management and Doggy Style Records, and producer Diplo. MTV’s Sway will host. The press release notes, “The headlines don’t tell the full story, just bits and pieces and newsbites leaving more questions than answers. Snoop Lion will discuss his time spent in Jamaica where he was positively impacted by both the Rastafarian culture and the Jamaican people who embraced him along the journey of being reincarnated into Snoop Lion.
