Lady Gaga is being criticized by PETA for being photographed in various fur jackets over the past few weeks and she recently responded to a statement by the company’s VP Dan Matthews who has accused her of being a turncoat by changing her stance on wearing animal pelts.
.
In a statement of PETA’s site Matthews mentions a statement she gave to Ellen DeGeneres in 2010 shortly after wearing her famous meat dress to the MTV Video Music Awards where she said “I hate fur and don’t wear fur.” Matthews wrote, “Many of your gay fans, I among them, have long admired what you told Ellen. “What happened? Are your stylists telling you that it’s fake, or are you a turncoat? Many gays are animal advocates because we recognize that the same arrogance and indifference that some have toward animal suffering has at times been directed toward us personally because of our orientation.”
.
He added that he wished for a response and shortly afterward she wrote via Twitter, “For those press and such who are writing about whether or not my fur is actually real, please don’t forget to credit the designer HERMES. Thank You! LOVE, gaga.” While we understand she was trying to be coy, judging by the responses to this Tweet by her fans it seems as if a lot of them are disappointed in Gaga’s response to this criticism.
