We’ve got news about Kim Kardashian’s newest guest spot, some “Smash” casting news, John Slattery and Jon Hamm’s new guest gigs, Kate Hudson’s hot new look on “Glee”, new trailers for “Dexter” and “Downton Abbey,” and Michael J. Fox’s return to TV. Get the details on all of these projects below!

Kim Kardashian has appeared on Lifetime’s “Drop Dead Diva” before, but this time she’s not back in black, she’s back in…orange? Turns out the character she plays is a con artist and her criminal ways have caught up to her, because she’s behind bars in the new episode that airs August 26th.

Here’s a cool piece of news. Dreamgirls Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson is joining the cast of NBC’s “Smash,” and now Sheryl Lee Ralph, the woman who first played Beyonce’s part in the Broadway version of the story, has been cast as Hudson’s mom in the show. Now all we need is an Eddie Murphy cameo…

Seems like every time we have one of these TV News posts, “Arrested Development” slips its way in somehow. Today’s edition: “Mad Men” star John Slattery, who plays the silver-haired Roger Sterling of Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce (RIP Lane), is joining the cast of the newly-renewed series for a multi-episode arc. Trouble is, we don’t know who he’ll be playing quite yet. My vote is that he plays George Michael’s college professor.

Speaking of “Mad Men” stars, Jon Hamm has snagged a guest spot in another TV series, but this one isn’t even live action. He’ll lend his soothing, Mercedes Benz-loving voice to FOX’s surprise animated hit “Bob’s Burgers,” starring “Archer” voice H. Jon Benjamin. Hamm will play – get this – a talking toilet (!) that Eugene discovers in the woods, described as an E.T. style love story between a boy and a toilet. Awesome.

I’m generally not a fan of Kate Hudson or “Glee” these days, but when the two combine? Hot damn, Kate looks stunning here. Ryan Murphy tweeted the first photo of the actress on set as Lea Michelle’s dance teacher, another hard-ass authority figure who gives Rachel a hard time. Good – someone needs to knock her down a peg.

From the look of it, the newest season of “Dexter” is going to be a badass return to form. From the flashes of footage we see in this new trailer, Dex slits the throat of an old friend (which may be a dream sequence, to be fair), and has full-on conversations with Deb about his Dark Passenger. Looks like the writers are finally backing themselves into a super interesting corner, and I can’t wait to see how they get themselves out of it.

Bummer, “SNL” fans. Abby Elliott, cast member since ‘08 and daughter of former SNL vet Chris Elliott, will not be coming back next season. She’s following in the footsteps of Andy Samberg and Kristen Wiig, except Abby doesn’t have nearly as impressive a resume when it comes to feature films. We wish her all the best, though – hopefully she’ll land somewhere else where her talents can be put to good use.

Speaking of Abby – well, “Downton Abbey” anyway (wait, nobody was talking about it? Oh well) – a new trailer has dropped for season 3 and it looks like the Brits are getting an influx of American girl when Shirley Maclaine comes along. The quality is pretty terrible on this video, but this is just a primer anyway – Season 3 doesn’t start on PBS until January of 2013, so you’ve got time to catch up if you’re still not on board the royal bandwagon.

Looks like Michael J. Fox is returning to television! The former Marty McFly developed Parkinson’s disease and that sort of sidelined him for a little while, but after “Spin City” and his recent turn on “The Good Wife,” it seems he’s up for taking on a lead role yet again. Easy A director Will Gluck is teaming up with Fox for this one, so expect to hear more about it in the coming weeks as development continues and the networks continue their battle to secure Fox’s return to the small screen.
